Kinetic
sculptor and inventor of curious machines, Jim Bond has created a series of
interactive machines which allow participants to draw in new and engaging ways.
These hand held devices rotate, vibrate and articulate introducing a random element into
the drawing process. The machine becomes a conduit adding an extra layer of complexity between the hand
and the paper which removes control and disrupts
normal hand eye coordination with fascinating results. The act on drawing becomes a challenge which requires
skill, concentration and an intuitive understanding of the movement of the pen. The drawing
machines have delighted, confused and intrigued children and grown ups at venues accross
the country.
