Make it Up North Workshops

Three workshops designed to inspire you to make, draw and paint with new skill and passion:
Make it Up North is our new event in The Guildhall in York where over 50 selected artists work will be for sale & commission. 
We have a gorgeous classroom looking over the river to host three one day workshops over three days for anyone 16years+ to have a go a developing their creative skills.
We've got fantastic artists with a wealth of experience in teaching, so whether you are an absolute beginner or want to develop skills you already have, these interesting, fun and accessible workshops are for you.
We've also got 5 artists talks for you attend if you like from £4-£6 per person they include entry into the main show! Find out more here.

"This is Salsa Dancing for creative types: no walking on egg shells, or intense serious concentration here. This is a one day workshop of vivid, sparky, arty fun! Participants will learn how to approach the human figure, how to represent the volume of the human body and how to place the figure in context, drawing from a live nude model whilst guided through carefully planned drawing exercises, using pencil, charcoal, pastel, paint" Greg McGee

Brendan Hesmondhalgh creates sculptural works that encapsulate and embody a creature’s spirit in inimitable style. Using sculptural surfaces like that of a canvas, directional and textural marks are included to enhance each form.
"This one day taster course focuses on entry level animal/figure sculpture. It does not matter if you are a complete beginner or an accomplished maker. Everyone will have the opportunity to produce their own mini sculpture in clay by the end of the day" Brendan Hesmondhalgh.
